Rudy Browne

Rudy Browne is a former educator with over 30 years in public education as a teacher, training specialist and administrator. He retired to pursue his passion for painting.

Browne has a BA and an MFA in art from UC Davis. Among notable artist with whom he has studied are: Wayne Thiebaud, Bob Arneson, Roy De Forest and Roland Petersen.

Since 2004, Rudy has created a series of jazz portraits called "Faces of Jazz." It is an on-going tribute to jazz musicians. He has completed approximately 60 portraits and many are in private collections throughout the country.

In 2010 Browne began a back-to-nature series. He states, "living in the foothills encourages one to hike, explore and record the area's beauty." The current work includes landscapes, waterscapes, river and rocks. The new work marks a change in Browne's painting style. Browne states that he is an old-school painter. "I love the smell of oil, turp, linseed oil and varnish. With jazz in the background and our three dogs hanging around the studio, it's 3-dog night all over again!"
